Dedicated to Giving Service on Wiradjuri Land

Mingaan Wiradjuri Aboriginal Corporation is an Aboriginal community controlled non-profit organisation located in Lithgow area of New South Wales.

We have been established since 2007 as a registered organisation with the Office of Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC). Mingaan was established to give Aboriginal people in the local area a voice in all areas of Government and Services especially in matters dealing with the environment, with heritage and in taking our rightful place in the history of this country. Mingaan has Wiradjuri Elders, Aboriginal Land Council representatives and Aboriginal community people from all age groups who they represent.

Our goal is to preserve and protect cultural heritage and natural values and promote cultural awareness, education, and community health and well-being.

Meet Our Founders

Sharon Riley

Sharon takes pride in having extensive experience in site identification and assisting with remedial work on Aboriginal rock art sites. She has been involved with major works across Lithgow, Blue Mountains, Bathurst, and Dubbo. These include Aboriginal place identifications and declarations, site training, rock art remedial work, and community liaison for the management of sites.

She has also been involved with site awareness training, rock art graffiti removal training, community projects and workshops for cultural understanding, art interpretation, and traditional practices. Sharon is a proud Wiradjuri.

Helen Riley

Helen is a proud Wiradjuri Elder.

Helen continues to work with Lithgow City Council to assist council deliver culturally sensitive and appropriate services across the region. She is a member of the Wiradjuri Elders Group and has been appointed to the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Advisory Committee (ACHAC), which reports directly to the Minister for the Environment and to the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs. Helen has been involved in Site awareness training; rock art remedial works along with many community projects that promote a cultural of understanding of traditional practices.

Mingaan Wiradjuri Aboriginal Corporation acknowledges country and traditional owners across all Wiradjuri lands. We honour all peoples and elders from all nations and from across all the lands of Australia; and we honour the memory of our Elders past and those who are still with us.
